Getting started

Quick start

This walks you from a fresh account to your first invoice. It takes a few minutes.

1 - Create your business

On first login you set up a business: a name and a base currency. Everything - rates, totals, invoices - rolls up to this currency.

2 - Add a client

Create a client with a company name, at least one contact, and a default hourly rate. You can set a VAT number now or later.

3 - Track some time

Open a project, pick a task, and hit the timer - or add a manual entry. Time is billable by default; flip the flag for anything that isn't.

4 - Turn it into an invoice

Start a new invoice and pick the client. Choose a grouping - by person and rate, per task, or a single line - and Clerq builds a draft from the unbilled time with the right currency and VAT treatment. You can also add fixed-amount lines for retainers or fixed-fee work.

5 - Issue it

Review the draft, then issue it. Issuing assigns the next sequential number (YYYY-NNNN) and marks the invoice sent - it cannot be undone. Export the branded PDF to send to your client however you like, and mark the invoice paid when the money arrives.
