Reports

The Reports page answers one question: is the work making money? It takes your income, subtracts expenses and what you pay your team, and shows the result without you exporting anything to a spreadsheet.

Profit

Profit is income minus expenses minus team cost. Because you can invoice and spend in more than one currency, Clerq shows it three ways:

  • Total profit / loss - one bottom line, with every amount converted to your base currency at the rate in effect on each invoice's issue date (or each expense's incurred date). This is the invoice basis - the most accurate way to combine currencies, rather than today's rate applied to old money. Anything that can't be priced (an unsupported currency pair, or a rates outage) is left out of the total and listed underneath, so nothing quietly disappears.
  • Cash - money that has actually moved: paid invoices, paid expenses, and the cost of time billed on a paid invoice. Shown per currency, never converted between them.
  • Accrued - everything recognised: issued invoices, all recorded expenses, and the cost of all billed time. Also per currency.

"Team cost" is the internal cost of the hours worked - what the work costs you, set through per-member client rates - whether or not those hours have been billed.

Budgets

Give a client a budget on its detail page and Clerq tracks the value of work against it, so you can see how much of the agreed number you have burned through before you go over it. A budget is just a target the tracked value is measured against; leave it unset for clients you bill purely by the hour.

Who can see it

Profit figures reveal your margins, so the Reports page and the converted total are gated behind the reports.viewProfit permission. Owners and admins have it by default; see Roles & permissions to grant it to anyone else. People without it simply don't see the page.

An assistant can pull the same numbers over the MCP server with get_profit_summary, subject to the very same permission.
